Soon after his 'birth' in 1902 the Steiff Teddy bear set off on a voyage lavish with magic, romance and childhood dreams, a journey of over 100 years in which he has enjoyed unprecedented popularity.
The British nation's history is preserved within this beautiful classic bear whose heartbeat plays the legendary composition of Sir Edwards Elgar's, "Pomp and Circumstance". This splendid march was first performed by Elgar in 1901, who took this little from the joy he received reading Skakespeare's Othello.
In Britain today, "Pomp and Cirumstance" is inexorably linked with the words 'Land of Hope and Glory', words suggested by King Edward VII and written by Arthur Christopher Benson. This was originally part of the libretto for the Coronation Ode for the King, and has become the second national anthem.
This beautiful, brown-tipped Teddy bear coupled with a fine musical movement by Reuge embraces glorious England and all her heritage.
Standing 30 cm high The English Teddy bear proudly features the gold-plated "Button in Ear" and comes with his certificate of authenticity in a lovingly embroidered gift bag.
