Children will enjoy an intriguing, educational nature project to study and rear their own ladybirds. They will be captivated watching the metamorphosis from tiny larvae to pupae to the emergence of beautiful ladybirds, or laybugs as they're known in North America. No mess - easy to look after. Kit includes net insectarium, tweezers, magnifying glass, feeding pipette and informative instruction booklet full of fascinating facts. Did you know that the larvae of ladybirds look like tiny alligators and that ladybirds are "born" yellow without any spots? It takes approximately a month for the larvae to grow into ladybirds and then they can either be released to fly away or be prepared for hibernation, following the instructions. (Ladybird eggs are not included as they need to be fresh but - they can be ordered easily from the laboratory for a small charge with the included order form.)
